The Good Wife: "Rape: A Modern Perspective" Review and "A More Perfect Union" Preview

The Good Wife occasionally will feature cases based on current events, while putting its own spin on them.

During The Good Wife season 4, the topics have included: the NATO summit protests in Chicago, hazing and spousal privilege for same-sex spouses. In "Rape: A Modern Perspective," three separate headlines were integrated into the hour, including "Anonymous" helping uncover evidence in a rape investigation, Bitcoin and the Justice Department's investigation into Aaron Swartz.

There was so much going on in this episode that it would have been easy for it to become cumbersome, but that never took place. Instead, the numerous storylines were well-written and integrated together in a cohesive manner.

Lost Girl Interview with Emily Andras and Season 3 Finale Preview

Lost Girl is down to its last episode of the season and it's sure to be a doozy.

The Lost Girl season 3 finale, "Those Who Wander," picks up seamlessly from last week's "Hail, Hale." Lauren, Dyson and Aife are imprisoned at Isaac's lab, while Bo contends with a wounded Tamsin. Kenzi is in the Morrigan's custody at the Dal. And Trick is locked in a car trunk. The final two episodes could easily have been aired back-to-back as a two-hour finale.

Even though the show is currently on hiatus, Executive Producer Emily Andras took time to answer a few questions via email about the show's mythology, romances and more.

------------------------------

Lost Girl has a passionate fandom that is heavily invested in Bo's romantic life and the show also has a dense mythology. Throughout season 3, there was a balance between the two, which do you see as the guiding force of the show?

Hmm, a tough one, right out of the gate! The mythology, the world of the Fae, and the various relationships on the show -- as well as its wit and sense of fun -- are all equally important to the show's success. And the right balance between each element is critical if we want to continue to keep our fanbase engaged, as well as (hopefully) see it grow!

But if I had to boil down the 'driving force of the show' I would say it's more thematic than anything, and applies to most of the characters we've come to love: can you even be 'good' enough to make up for past wrongs? Can you choose whom you want to be vs. whom others insist you were destined to be? Can you ever truly live the life you choose? These philosophical questions, particularly as it relates to Bo's journey, are ultimately what fuel Lost Girl

Sneak Peek: Aife reveals Isaac's motives to Dyson

Nikita: "Mask" Review and "Broken Home" Preview

"Masks" was crazy intense. Division was hit from both outside and inside forces that make a full recovery nearly impossible.

The top leadership of the New Division has been decimated. It's easy to say they should have seen this coming or that they didn't take nearly enough precautions, but they were betrayed by two people in their inner circle.

Alex and Owen were trusted leaders that betrayed their friends after Amanda's mind-altering procedures. In actuality, the crisis at Division is all Amanda's doing. She's used her powers for evil.

Amanda uses her brain voodoo to visually show her childhood to Nikita. It looks like we'll find out how Amanda became ... Amanda.

Amanda reveals why Alex is obsessed with making sure everyone at Division gets out safe. Ryan is still in a coma and Michael is captured. Nikita says she never wanted to kill anyone and then attacks Amanda. Though, Amanda has a trick on her fingers ... literally.

Nikita airs on Fridays at 8 pm ET on the CW.

The Americans Review: "Only You"

In the aftermath of Amador's death, the FBI's investigation went into high gear with the KGB still considered the top suspect. After a short eulogy in the office, Agent Gaad sent his team out to find those responsible for killing his man.

As much as The Americans is about the spy game during the Cold War, it's not about the nuts and bolts of that life, instead it's about the human cost. "Only You" showed the investigation into Amador's death and how the culprit was both staged and caught, but that was just the framework of the story.

Amador's death was brought about by his inability to keep his jealousy in check. It had nothing to do with him being an FBI agent or that Philip was a KGB officer. Though, their jobs did end up altering the scope of his death. If Philip wasn't KGB officer, then the attack would have ended in that parking lot. Amador would have either bled out or been taken to a hospital with his career in jeopardy. Instead, his senseless action let to an international crisis with more lives lost.

NCIS: Los Angeles Review: "Purity"

Would you support taking part of the United States Defense Department budget and allocating it to education?

At face value, that sounds like a plausible and harmless cause to believe in. In "Purity," that was one of the fundamental platforms of the group, Designing a New America (DNA). They supported better education and a safer America for their children. That would be a noble cause if they weren't attempting to pursue it through killing innocent people with cyanide.

Lost Girl Review: "Hail, Hale"

Wow. "Hail, Hale" was a jam-packed, fae-mazing hour. If anything, there was too much going on.

I wish these storylines would have been expanded and integrated over a couple more episodes. It was Hale's inauguration day as The Ash, but that was only one of many events happening, including: The Morrigan's power grab, Isaac's plan to use Lauren's research to satisfy his own Fae-power lust, and Tamsin's downward spiral due to her obligation to capture Bo.

After Lauren disobeyed Hale, she left not only the Light Fae, but Bo behind in order to work with Isaac. She quickly succeeded in completing the work she was doing. That was something to celebrate, but it was disheartening to hear her talk about how empty her life was before. If that's the case, why would she ever want to go back to the Fae and Bo?

Nikita Review: "Tipping Point"

At first, "Tipping Point" appeared to be a Nikita episode about Michael getting a fully operational arm again. But turned into so much more. Wow.

What a freaking twist! I didn't see it coming at all, did you? Even on my second viewing of the episode, I didn't find any glaring clues the Alex was behind the mutiny. It was obvious that Amanda did something to her, but the extent of Alex's shift in mind frame was utterly shocking. Kudos to the writers and to Lyndsy Fonseca for her outstanding performance.

The Big Bang Theory Review: "The Tenure Turbulence"

It's time for the guys to compete again. In "The Tenure Turbulence," a tenured professor was found dead in his office and that means his position is now open and ready for the taking. Let's take a moment to mourn the professor. He was dead in his office for two weeks before he was found. Very sad.

This episode reminded me of another of my favorites from The Big Bang Theory season 6 when Sheldon and Howard fought over a parking spot in "The Parking Lot Escalation."

The one-upsmanship between the guys for the tenure position cracked me up. This show is at its funniest when the guys and girls are all together for a good portion of the episode.

The Americans Review: "Safe House"

After a week off the air, The Americans returned with it's most intense episode of the season. "Safe House" even beat out the episode when the Jennings were tortured.

With the FBI on high alert after the KGB presumably (they did) killed two FBI agents and a scientist, the tension got bumped up due to a jealous ex-boyfriend. Happenstance can be unfortunate, and in this case, it cost two men their lives.

Before I get into the heart of the episode, I have to mention Elizabeth and Philip's ridiculous decision to split up. After over a decade of living together as uncover KGB spies in an arranged marriage, they decided to take a break over one lie? They finally fell in love with each other and threw it away too quickly. Yes, Philip technically lied about sleeping with Irina, but he was on a mission. She had to go into the hospital showing signs of both a physical attack and sexual activity. If she didn't, the plan wouldn't have worked.

Lost Girl Video Preview: A Fae-Human War Breaks Out in "Hail, Hale"

There are only two episodes left in Lost Girl season 3. The "Hail, Hale" video sneak peeks show a grim outlook. Beware: The videos contain major Lost Girl spoilers. I almost wish I didn't watch them ... almost.

Check out the first preview from Syfy.

Bo is shot at and Dyson is kidnapped by humans. The Fae and Humans become enemies when the Morrigan says, "From this day forward, all Humans will be considered terrorists." Hale doesn't look very thrilled about her declaration.

What does this mean for Bo's relationship with Kenzi? And, Lauren? Will she put them at risk to remain in a relationship with them?

Dyson is in a cage and fighting. Are Humans using Faes to fight against each other for entertainment? A new form of cockfighting?

Tamsin gets shot! She can't die, right? I was just getting to like her. And, the clip ends with Trick  saying, "Kenzi, hide!" She's in danger now too. Would Hale let anything happen to his former buddy, Kenz?

Here's the preview from Showcase.

Some very telling quotes from the video:

The Morrigan: "We've been trying to find a way to get the Light and the Dark to work together for a common good. While the need for such an alliance has finally come."

Trick: "There's been an attack by Humans. They've taken Dyson."

Isaac: "Just think what good we could do turn that negative into a positive."

Lauren: "You used my research to poison my friends."
Isaac: "It's not your research!"

Trick has been taken too. By whom? Kenzi seems to be okay at least for a while. Someone is looking for their daughter.

The speculation that Isaac was a bad guy has been confirmed. How will Lauren fix this? She has to protect Bo, right? Will she be able to save Dyson? He is not a happy caged wolf.

Here's the last sneak peek from Syfy.

Kenzi was hit on the head by Bo? An unknown guy questions Kenzi's ability to help her Fae friends and asks if she wants to be Fae. What is this guy offering her? He's creepy. Kenzi replies, "It takes a con to know a con."

This scene doesn't fit in with the previous two. If Humans are the enemy, why would this mysterious guy be approaching Kenzi? Could it have been a dream sequence?

Have the videos gotten you excited for "Hail, Hale"? It's quite a shift from the rest of the season. A Human-Fae war has come out of nowhere.

Smash: "The Parents" Review; Plus Ana's Performance of "Reach for Me"

This week's Smash was supposed to be about "The Parents," but Ana was the highlight of both The Hit List and the show. Wow. Karen better start worrying about her position and role in the musical.

The Hit List had its first public showing at a fundraiser for the the theater. Karen had a blah performance that was followed up by Ana singing a gorgeous song with full production. I call a foul on the writing here because Karen was set up to look boring compared to Ana's performance. If Karen and Jimmy would have sung any of the show's duets, there wouldn't have been such a differential between the performances.

There was no competition, though. Karen sang a decent song, in a modest outfit, with no stage production. Ana had an elaborate costume, dancers with eye-catching choreography, and she was floating across the air on fabric. When Richard ends up writing about the production - and you know he will - he will highlight Ana's performance and not even mention Karen. At least, he has an out for not reviewing the lead since he missed her act.

Read the full Smash review.

As I mentioned in my review, I am in love with Ana's performance of "Reach for Me." I have been watching and listening to her sing this song over and over again. The song is chilling and the staging is gorgeous.

Watch Ana's complete act below.

Lost Girl Review: "Adventures in Fae-bysitting"

Throughout Lost Girl season 3, the weakest storytelling element has been in the Fae cases-of-the-week. That shifted in a positive way this week in "Adventures in Fae-bysitting."

Instead of feeling forced into the story as is usually done, this case was the primary plot and it worked. Bo and Kenzi have gone undercover before, but never with as much humor and heart as their trip to the suburbs. It gave them each the opportunity to see what their "normal" life could look like.

That is, with a witch-controlled killing Fae in the neighborhood.

The Good Wife Review: "The Wheels of Justice"

"The Wheels of Justice" moved quickly on this week's The Good Wife, as Alicia expedited a trial for her infamous client Colin Sweeney.

When we last saw Sweeney, he was being charged with sexual misconduct with Isobel Swift in "Long Way Home" after previously getting away with murdering his wife. Now, he's engaged to Isobel.

While the fast tracked trial was the case-of-the-week, the overriding theme of the episode was all about love and its various incarnations.
