Jaha left his people behind and went on a quest in the search of the City of Light. As The 100 Season 3 begins, he claims to know all about the City of Light after coming in contact with ALIE. This summer, Isaiah Washington shed some light on Jaha's journey this season.
What's going on with Jaha in Season 3?
Washington: Jaha is in possession of the bigger gun. He's no longer Chancellor, but he has a lady in a red dress and they have-- or he has a nuclear warhead.
Will he be using it for good or for evil?
Washington: Jaha is in the possession of the bigger gun and he has access to the lady in red, artificial intelligence, you figure it out. You know his mindset is a little different. He threw someone off a boat. And the only reason Murphy survives is because he can row. Jaha's bottom line has become extremely chilling.
What about his spiritual journey?
Washington: That's what I'm thinking is so fun about Jaha right now. The juxtapose of what happens when someone is so ensconced in their beliefs that they are willing to threaten and kill and sacrifice other human lives. We are talking about the history of man. What happened when someone goes, "Sometimes you gotta do the wrong thing to do the right thing." How do you get out that rabbit hole?
When The 100 Season 3 picks up, Clarke will be out on her own and attempting to come to terms with what she did at Mount Weather. Meanwhile, the political situation with the Grounder factions becomes tumultuous with the Ice Nation threatening the peace.
Eliza Taylor came in on her day off to The 100 set to talk to reporters about the upcoming season. She discusses the different grounder factions and what it means that Clarke is Wanheda.
The 100 Season 3 premieres on Thursday, January 21 at 9 pm ET on the CW.
Kane has transitioned from one of the most hated characters on The 100 to one of the most beloved.
As he has evolved as a character, his relationship and connection with Abby has shifted and become much deeper. In The 100 Season 3 extended trailer, Kane and Abby kiss!
While it's unclear what draws them together, it's a moment viewers wouldn't have seen coming in the early episodes of the series, yet one that has become highly anticipated. Will it be smooth sailing for Kabby?
That's not likely. This is The 100! Nothing is easy, simple or as expected .... ever.
Henry Ian Cusick teased a romance for Kane this season while on The 100 set when they were filming Season 3 Episode 9. Cusick doesn't specify that the relationship is with Abby, so it could be with someone else....
Check out his witty response about Kane's romantic future.
What do you think? Disappointed? Intrigued? Happy?
The 100 Season 3 picks up three months after the annihilation of the Mountain Men at Mount Weather. Over these months, there have been many changes, but Clarke and Bellamy's decision to exterminate an entire people hangs heavy over everything that's going on with the Skaikru, Trikru and other clans.
Executive Producer Jason Rothenberg said, "They are all Grounders now technically." And, that's evident immediately in Season 3. The term "Grounders" is too general to be of much value as a describer going forward with the show's expanding world. It could be argued that the original "100" and Arkers who joined them form another clan outside the 12 Clan coalition. They are the Skaikru.
The events at Mount Weather affect everyone who knows what happened emotionally, physically, romantically and/or politically. There's peace, but that doesn't mean it's all good. The peace is tenuous as Kane reminds Bellamy in the first teaser trailer.
During the three months, the Skaikru established a true home base and have taken advantage of technology. As the above image from the trailer shows, they have a vehicle now and horses too. This allows them to move around the lands more quickly and helps showcase the expansive world they must navigate.
One of the best moments of the premiere takes place in the truck and is a brief moment of lightness and joy in otherwise dark and dangerous world. It's a scene that will likely be replayed on repeat for a long time. (At least, I plan on doing that!)
I've only watched "Wanheda: Part One and Part Two" and it's an impressive start to my favorite series on television. I wasn't sure how The 100 would possibly follow up the first two seasons, but Jason Rothenberg, the writers, directors, cast, and crew have exceeded my expectations.
The 100 is fundamentally the same show as we saw last spring, but as there was a focal shift between Seasons 1 and 2, there's another one in Season 3. The intensity hasn't waned, instead the threats are even greater now.
In addition to the story of the Skaikru and the Clans, separately Jaha's journey with ALIE continues and Murphy begins to uncover more about what happened years prior in the bunker.
While you probably want to know more about what happens and specifics about certain characters, I'll leave that to the full trailer which comes out on Monday, December 14. Once that's released, I'll have a better feel for what I can and cannot say.
One tidbit, I'll leave you with is that Trigedasleng is used for communication more often than in the past seasons. When and how it's used instead of English speaks volumes over the words being said at times. It's another example of the world expanding and the assimilation of the Skaikru.
The 100 Season 3 doesn't hold anything back. It begins with a tortured soul and with the exception of the one truck scene I mentioned, that intensity doesn't let up. Mount Weather and what happened there provides an undercurrent to personal and political decisions being made, people's mental and physical state and really just about everything you will see on the screen.

You can find most of my The 100 interviews and other coverage at BuddyTV, including from a set visit this Fall. I'll also be hosting the "Inside the 100" aftershow each week and additional thoughts here at TV Diehard.
It's Christmas time on The Vampire Diaries Season 7 Episode 9,
"Cold as Ice," and there's a lot stirring after Lily's sacrifice. While
Stefan and Damon search for Julian, Caroline and Alaric are dealing with
her unique pregnancy.
This leaves Bonnie to work a Toys for Tots drive without her friends. BuddyTV caught up with Kat Graham
on set in Atlanta to find out what Bonnie's up to for the holidays and
the surprising person who shows up to help her at the toy drive.
"The Christmas episode is actually when you start to see Bonnie
interacting more with the Heretics and you start to see those storylines
develop," teases Graham. This is a change from when Bonnie was killing
Heretics or being with those who were killing the Heretics.
After performing a disappearing act, Rowena's back to help the Winchester brothers deal with their Darkness problem in Supernatural Season 11 Episode 9, "O Brother Where Art Thou?" And, it may have to do with a certain someone in a cage. We caught up with Ruth Connell to find out what brings Rowena back, how the reunion with Crowley goes, Rowena's reaction to Lucifer and more.
Connell: Thank
goodness Rowena's been pulled back in. ... There's a big cliffhanger in
this episode and it very much leads into Episode 10 and we filmed the
episodes together. It might actually be that the Winchesters might need
something from her. I think when we last saw her, they needed her to
free Castiel and here they are again. She's like their nice aunty, she
keeps helping them. You'll see how she's brought back in. It's a bit of
fun.
At San Diego Comic-Con, I attended The 100 press room and go some insight into The 100 Season 3 from Executive Producer Jason Rothenberg and Eliza Taylor (Clarke). Rothenberg reminded us that "They are all Grounders now technically."
He delved into the expanding mythology and how the conflict between the different factions will grow. The AI story with ALIE will also be a big part of The 100 Season 3. Check out the full interview with Rothenberg at BuddyTV.
After refusing to enter Camp Jaha, Clarke's journey was not an easy one. Taylor teased, "[Clarke]'s going to be losing her mind a little bit." She'll be dealing with what she did at Mount Weather alone away from her people.
Victory to the Sky People! Clarke succeeded in saving her people, but it
came at a great cost to the world and to her personally when all but
one of the Mountain Men were eliminated. Meanwhile, Thelonious reached
his destination and the City of Light wasn't at all what he expected.
The 100 Season
2 finale was brutal and shocking throughout the hour. What comes next?
BuddyTV spoke with Executive Producer Jason Rothenberg to get the scoop
on A.L.I.E, the future of Mount Weather, Clarke's state of mind and how
the Grounders will play into Season 3.
BuddyTV: You mentioned War Games earlier. A.L.I.E, is she Joshua?
Rothenberg: Well, I loved War Games,
but she is an AI. She's an Artificial Intelligence, a sentient computer
program that when she gained sentience, she sort of had the hard take
off that Ray Kurzweil talked about in "The Singularity is Near," which
is a book everyone should read certainly as we go into Season 3.
Ultimately,
[she] looked on mankind for one reason or another -- all of which we
will explore in Season 3 -- and was in fact responsible for the end of
the world. We never answered that question before. We never brought up
that question really before. And we plan on playing in that world more
in Season 3.
Is she Joshua? She's an AI who
ended the world and ultimately was trapped in some way by her creator,
whether it's that guy in the video or not, remains to be seen, but was
trapped in that house for 97 years. He wasn't able to stop her from
ending the world, from launching the nukes, but he was able to trap her.
The big questions for Season 3 are: What does she want? Why is she like
this? What does she mean when she says we have work to do?
The 100 finale is already here. In "Blood Must Have Blood,
Part Two," the battle between the Sky People and the Mountain Men hits
the peak of its crescendo in epic fashion. With all hope lost, Clarke,
Octavia, Bellamy, Jasper and Monty have to find a way to save their
people. What sacrifices will they have to make along the way?
BuddyTV
spoke with Executive Producer and Creator Jason Rothenberg to find out
how Clarke moves on after Lexa's betrayal, whether there's any hope in
this world, Jaha's quest for the City of Light and the difficult
decision facing Clarke.
BuddyTV: Clarke
at the end of "Blood Must Have Blood, Part One," she was left just
standing there. How is she able to take that disappointment and forge
forward with her people in danger.
Rothenberg: That
moment is designed obviously to be the lowest of the low. The low point
where everything she had going into the episode and into the ultimate
battle for Mount Weather was taken away from her including the woman she
had been falling for romantically. Everything is taken away from her in
that moment. And her people are left to die and she has no way in and
when we find her that's where she still is.
She
doesn't know how she's going to do this. She knows that door's not an
option so she heads to the door she knows about. That's where she finds
Octavia and of course things transpire from there. I think it's always
darkest before the dawn, but I guess in The 100 it can always get darker. [Laughs] And that's where this episode begins.
After a long break, the TV Diehard Podcast is back! What show propelled the return of the show? For those who follow me, it's probably not much of a surprise, but for others it may be. The show is the CW's The 100. Yes, it's a show on the CW, yet that shouldn't and doesn't define the series. If anything, it defies the stereotype of the CW which really doesn't apply much now with shows like Arrow, The Flash and Jane the Virgin joining The 100 on the channel. I've been joined by others to discuss three of the last four episodes of The 100 Season 2. The discussion on the devastating midseason finale will be recorded over the show's hiatus. Love the show? On this week's TV Diehard podcast, I chatted with Will Harris from The AV Club and Sean McKenna from TV Fanatic about the stunning conclusion to Alcatraz and the return of Castiel on Supernatural.
We discussed the following:
The Alcatraz finale - Was it a satisfying season finale? Series finale? Were enough questions answered? If the show gets a season two, what should happen?
The return of Castiel on Supernatural and his decision to save Sam.
